HANDMADE CYANOTYPE FLOWER PRESSING KITS

I have been currently obsessed with the cyanotype process and find it to be an exhilarating use of pressed flowers. These presses are handmade and the artwork is imperfect, which is what I sort of love about the process of pressing flowers. If interested in buying one of these presses the expectation of the artwork should be that this was a beautiful experiment that adds a thoughtful layer to a functional kit. You can see in the photos where parts of the wood grabs the chemical differently and the inconsistencies and imperfections abound on each one.

These kits are $80 with the exception of One Sided Sister ($70). She is on sale price because she only has artwork on the front and a blank blue back, making her different from the others. The back is a lovely deep blue leftover from a process with the chemical that did not work out. Whether it was my timing or application, I am not sure. Why waste the wood when your flowers will press anyways?

WHAT THESE KITS OFFER you:

They are cute, for one ;) But what is included in the kit sets you up well for pressing flowers with no experience. I would like to pass on some of mine through a How To Press Flowers & Store Them Guide that will be included in your kit. The other assets are:

• a pair of sharp tweezers for moving your flowers around

• at least 5 layers worth of paper and padding board. This looks like bundles of padding board and paper between each layer.

• 5 absorbent layers made from bamboo (which are easy to dry and have worked well for me)

• drying area of 9.5x8.5 inches

• 4” carriage bolts and 4 wingnuts

• how-to instructional & contact info for questions

• I will include a hand written note with the flowers I used and a brief description of what I did to achieve that outcome with cyanotype and what type of plants are included.
